The Small Intestine

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/anatomy/digestive/

This is an interesting site that gives information about the digestive system and steps our food goes through as we eat. It even has a digestive system glossary that may be helpful while studying for the test.

The small intestine is a very important part of our digestive system. It is where the vast majority of digestion and absorption of food occurs. Contrary to common belief, the small intestine is actually longer than the large intestine. This article I found talks all about the small intestine and how it is a very important part of our digestive system.

Heart Disease

Heart disease and heart related problems is something that I may have to worry about as I get older. On my father's side heart problems and high cholesterol run in his family, so growing up I was always taught by him how important it is to have a healthy, active lifestyle. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/ Here is a site from the American Heart Association that provides tips and ways to stay or get healthy.

Since we were learning about the heart and the different regions of the heart, I found this article that talks about the different kinds of heart disease and how they occur. There is also a chart on the treatments of the diseases.

Using marijuana as a treatment for glaucoma

http://www.glaucoma.org/treatment/medical-marijuana.php

Glaucoma is an age related disease that occurs when there is aqueous humor build up in the eye, which is fluid that can't be released. This is called IOP, or intraocular pressure. This causes pain and blurriness and can even lead to blindness if left untreated. It is the second leading cause of blindness after cataract's. This article is about the effective use of marijuana to help relieve this intraocular pressure. It states in the article that this method of treatment is not as effective as prescriptions prescribed by a doctor but can temporarily relieve pain associated with this disease.
